The Foundry Art Centre presents the Black & White Photography exhibit from Aug. 5 through Sept. 16 in gallery I and II, 520 N. Main Center in St. Charles.

There will be an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 5 and light refreshments will be served.

The artist studios on the mezzanine level will be open during the reception.

Guitar program offers free intro lessons

The Childbloom Guitar Program will offer two free introductory lessons from 11 a.m.-noon Aug. 6 at 7829 Mexico Road in the Sunny Meadows Plaza in St. Peters.

The program specializes in teaching children 5 to 13, along with teaching families how to create a successful environment at home to create a good practice session and produce the results desired by all. Guitars will be provided at the lessons.

St. Peters summer camps are still enrolling

St. Peters Summer Camps give kids a choice between Rec-Plex Activities Camps, Rec-Plex Sports Camps or Art Camps. The camps are located at the St. Peters City Centre on Mexico Road. Art camps will meet in the Cultural Arts Centre at City Hall.

There are half-day art camps available for ages 6-9 and full-day art camps for ages 6-9 and 10 and up. Some camps are offered for toddlers and preschoolers. Full-day art camps will also take part in activities at the Rec-Plex and City Centre Park.

The following art camps have openings: recycled art, painting and more, half or full day, toddlers may enroll, Aug. 8-12.

All Rec-Plex campers will swim, ice skate, play in the gym and park, go on field trips and more. Sports camps will give training on specific sports.

The following Rec-Plex camps have openings: activities camp, meet weekly with the last camp taking place Aug. 8-12, for ages 6-12.

A free T-shirt will be given to all campers. Registration is required in advance. Before and after care is available for an extra charge.

Kids Block Party to take place Aug. 13

The Fifth Annual Kids Block Party will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 13 at the St. Charles Convention Center, 1 Convention Center Plaza.

Bankers Life and Casualty Company Fake Interview and my 4 months ...

Being an insurance agent is not an easy task, and yes ... it is a "work" and not a career for most people. I had the privilege of working for several months Distinti office Schaumburg (right by Woodfield Mall) Bankers Life and Casualty Company (BL & C). Although it was a good experience, especially what I learned is that I did not want to do and with whom I never wanted to meet again. Customers? Nope, I'm talking about BL & C and staff management.

Lend my ear, and listen to my (true) story of what it means to be part of the family "bankers.” Don’t worry though, there are some highlights in the story. I’ll tell you about how they found me, their interview process

Looking for a new job? Great! Put your resume up on sites like Monster and CareerBuilder? There’s a decent chance you’ll get a call from a Bankers recruiter. Awesome right?! Well, not so fast. I’m guessing your resume had nothing to do with insurance and you maybe have no sales experience.So when I had a resume and had 1) no sales experience, 2) not really interested in the insurance and 3) Technology / oriented programming skills ... I was rather disturbed to receive an interview request e-mails from the bankers.

Well, an email is ok. Except ... Except that the email has been "modeled". Meaning the only custom message to me was my name. Everything else seemed to copy and paste. Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool, and in the assurance that I could learn some marketing techniques! What an opportunity!At the bottom of their e-mail there is a link to click that says "Please click here to schedule an online meeting." Well, that's cool! Simple process!

It takes me to a page to enter some information and schedule a time. Now I think it's really cool! Why? Because I very rarely see a piece of automated scheduling software (yes, I am a geek and not afraid to show it). After I select a time and click submit I finally received an email from a completely different person at Bankers saying
