Mickie E. Brown, 61, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 2:28 a.m., Sunday, March 27, 2011 at St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

She was born Aug. 31, 1949 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Louis Savage and Rachel Maxine Wright Woods.

She graduated from Fort Scott High School and grew up in the A.M.E. Methodist Church of Fort Scott.

At the age of 18 she moved to Clinton, Mo., where she lived for three years, then to Joplin, Mo., for the next six years and then to Springfield, Mo., until her passing.

She worked as a lab tech for Farrell-Duncan for 25 years. She ran a resale store in Springfield called "Mickie B's." She was a member of the "Red Hat Ladies" in Springfield.

Mickie is survived by her two daughters, Becky Brown of Delaware, and Alisha Pittman and husband, Marcus of Springfield; a son, Shawn Brown of Kansas City, Mo.; a step son Danny Fewell, of Fort Scott; two brothers, Melvin C. Woods, of Olathe, Kan.; and Don Woods, of Fort Scott; two sisters, Jackie Vann, of Houston, Texas; and Joyce Woods, of Fort Scott; grandchildren, Mareesha, Tylecia, Aniya, Jalun, Quentun, Kylun and Trevon Brown, Kade Whorton and Markya Pittman. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rachel M. Woods, her grandpa, Clarence Wright, her grandma, Ethel M. Peoples, two sisters, Betty Jo Anne Fewell and Marita E. Bullock and two brothers, Gerald L. Woods and Marvin R. Woods.

Funeral services for Mickie E. Brown will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Washington Avenue Church.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Greenlawn South Funeral Home.
